$2000 Challenge Grant From SF3

SF3 logoWe’ve just learned that we’ve won a $2000 challenge grant from the Society for the Furtherance and Study of Fantasy and Science Fiction (SF3). Donations you make in December, 2010 and January, 2011 will be matched by SF3, up to a total of $2000.

During two weeks in November you helped us raise over $5000 for the scholarship fund. The contributions you sent us ranged from $1 to $500, and there were literally hundreds of them. Our $5000 total is due to all of you, and especially to the efforts of volunteers K. Tempest Bradford and Jenn Brissett. Publicity from Cory Doctorow, Neil Gaiman, and countless other friends of the cause was also essential. As an organization we’re really, truly grateful.

Though the two-week eReader drawing fundraiser is over, you can make an unrestricted donation to the CBS now and have it count for double the money you give us. We could receive another $4000! There are still plenty of CBS activities to support this way: our Parallax and Kindred literary awards, our discussion list, our People of Color in SF wiki, our panels at conventions, and on and on. All of these things do work Octavia advocated for, work she’d be proud to know you’re making possible.
